One of the cool aspects of producing a film festival is viewing the cinematic creativity of independent filmmakers. One of the cool aspects of producing the Poe Film Festival is viewing the amazing contemporary interpretations of the great works of Edgar Allan Poe.
This year’s festival is definitely no exception.
Our Pro Film Awards event, on the evening of Saturday, October 26, includes three homages to Poe. The first is a theatrical premiere of his 1849 poem, “A Dream Within a Dream.” Sung by Nashville star Tristen and produced by Shane Tutmarc, the video is an upbeat, almost summer hop musical experience.
Later in the Saturday evening program, you’ll enjoy a short film interpretation of “Dream,” exploring the relationship between Poe and his lover, Virginia. The evening concludes with a film version of “The Conqueror Worm,” Poe’s classic poem about post mortem subterranean activities. The film’s director, Paul von Stoetzel of Minnesota, will be on hand to explain his interpretation.
Sunday will feature “Night Tide” by Annette Bedrossian, with an artistic rendition of Poe’s “Annabel Lee.” Great stuff.
See you at the festival!
