The Poe Film Festival is not currently accepting pitches or scripts other than through the contest format.

We’re pleased to announce that the prestigious Virginia Screenwriters Forum, a state-wide organization of the top award-winning Virginia screenwriters, has teamed with the Poe Film Festival to honor our top 2018 college screenwriter with a trophy and $250 cash award!

In announcing the sponsorship, VSF director Eric Carlson noted the group’s intention to encourage young filmmakers and writers to hone their creative writing and story-telling skills.  He hopes the Virginia screenwriters will continue their collaboration with the Poe Film Festival for years to come.  Mr. Carlson also announced that VSF writers will serve as judges for the screenplay competition.

The Poe Film Festival is delighted to announce that the Virginia Screenwriters Forum will meet at the festival before the College Film Awards screening event.  VSF members will conduct script critiques and offer writing advice to our participants at the Globe Building classroom, 830 W. Grace Street, Richmond, on Saturday, October 20 from 9:30-11:30 am.

It all starts with the story, and we hope our talented young filmmakers can stop by to meet the VSF.

For college filmmakers and film crew to be a part of our unique college event, submit your film through this website before our September deadline!
